The 23rd Psalm is a blueprint for who a father should be.

Example: My earthly Dad (and this could be written about millions of other daddy’s, not just mine) presented the perfect example of the shepherd father, and he did it without going to church very often. Although I believe that we should take our family to meet with other Christians in corporate worship, to learn about God and who He is, it is not an absolute requirement for being a good father.

Daddy,

While you were here,

You were my protector, I never wanted for anything that I really needed

Thank You for providing a stable peaceful home life for me to rest and renew my mind and body

You always encouraged me and taught me the right way to live

Even when I was in scary places, I was not afraid

Your strength comforted me, I knew I was safe beside You

You provided food for our family and You protected us from any enemies

I remember how often I ran to your open loving arms

I am so blessed

Your example of loving kindness fulfilled me your entire life

I lived in your house and You will be a part of me forever

I did not worship my dad, but I do remember him teaching me with gentle, loving kindness his entire life.

I know millions of other daddy’s fulfilled their responsibilities to their families, and I am also aware that millions of others fall short. We all do at times.

Father, I pray that you minister to the daddy’s right here in America, that you encourage them to be good fathers, and that you instill wisdom in each of them, In Jesus’ Name.

Thank You daddy, for being a wonderful example for me, it made it easy for me to transfer our relationship characteristics to a relationship with God our Father. It was also a pattern for me when I was raising our children. I could not have made it without you.

Thank You, Jim Kinder, for inspiring me.

Psalm 23 King James Version (KJV)

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
